Fondillon from of “Denominación de Origen Alicante” , one of the wine-growing areas with more history and tradition, where the cultivation of grapevine and wine elaboration, it has been a constant since immemorial times.

Important archaeological references endorse the production of wine since 2.600 B.C From the 15th century there was an important international recognition of Alicante wines, being the best valued and exported to the main European ports.

Different royal regulations and privileges allowed the development of an important protection and regulation of its trade in what we could call the "First Denomination of Origin in the World" and that reaches the present day with the approval of "Denominacion de Origen Alicante" and its "Consejo Regulador".

Monastrell, the autochthonous variety par excellence in Alicante, is main protagonist of the wines produced in Bodegas and its most important heritage, which finds its maximum expression in Fondillón.

Exclusively elaborated in harvests that allow the quality to be very high and from overripe grapes from very old vineyards of our Monastrelvariety, it must be aged in barrels for a minimum of 10 years. Naturally aged wine, not fortified, with alcoholic graduation minimum of 16 degrees and a maximum of 45 gr/liter of sugars.

Sweetness balanced by high acidity.

Long finish and intense. Excellent as an aperitif, in contrast to savoury appetizers. As an after-dinner accompaniment to pastries.

A wine for dring on its own. Single barrel selection called "els calderons" from the collection "barricas centenarias".

A recovered treasure. A wine that exceeds by decades the maximum age of 50 years that the appellation catalogues for this type of wine. A rarity.
